Today is my first back in the office after a week-long trip to the states. Friday was stressful for my London colleagues as our offices are right above Tiger Tiger, the bar and nightclub targeted by the car bombers. As anyone who has worked here knows, you can feel the 120 beats a minute kicking off most nights after about 9pm. It is right below us. Robert Phillips, our UK CEO, was awake and monitoring the news at 5am (really) and worked out that the office would be closed and threw into action our crisis plan part of which involved keeping everyone at home who had not started their journey in, and set up a temporary base at our New Cavendish Street office from which those that already made the trip could work from. It was an impressive piece of planning and organisation by our London management. Sobering though.
